Stronghold & End Portal Finder for Minecraft
Find every stronghold on your Minecraft seed, and the End portal inside it, with exact coordinates and the Java ring overlay. No Eyes of Ender needed.
Enter your seed and every stronghold shows up with exact coordinates, the spot an Eye of Ender would lead you to, so you can go straight to the End portal without throwing a single eye.
How to use it
- Open the stronghold finder with the button above; the stronghold rings overlay is already on.
- Enter your seed and choose Java or Bedrock and your version.
- Use your own coordinates (F3 on Java, Show Coordinates on Bedrock) as the starting point to list the nearest strongholds.
- Travel to the closest one and dig down. The End portal room is somewhere inside, so explore the corridors from where you break in.
- Take Eyes of Ender with you: the portal frame needs 12, and only a few, if any, will already be in place.
Good to know
Java places exactly 128 strongholds in 8 rings around 0,0. The innermost ring has three strongholds between 1,280 and 2,816 blocks from the centre, which is why the nearest one is never right at spawn. The finder draws those rings as an overlay, and because the overlay is part of the link, a shared URL keeps it on.
The Nether is the fast way there. A first-ring stronghold is only 160 to 352 blocks from 0,0 in Nether coordinates, so speedrunners travel through the Nether and come back up through a portal near it. The Nether portal calculator gives the matching coordinates.
Bedrock generates strongholds with its own rules: the ring-bound strongholds plus extra ones tied to villages, and the map models both.
Known limitations
- The marker is where the stronghold starts. The portal room can be some way into the maze from there.
- The ring overlay shows Java's layout; Bedrock's village-linked strongholds don't follow it.
- It can't tell you whether the portal frame already holds eyes: each frame block only has a small chance of one.

Questions
How do I find the End portal in Minecraft?
The End portal is in a stronghold's portal room. Find the nearest stronghold here, go to its coordinates and search inside for the room with the portal frame over a pool of lava. The map replaces throwing Eyes of Ender; you still need eyes to fill the frame.
How many strongholds are there in Minecraft?
On Java, exactly 128 per world, in 8 rings around 0,0; the first ring holds 3 of them, 1,280 to 2,816 blocks out. Bedrock mixes ring strongholds with extra ones near villages, so its count works differently.
Do I still need Eyes of Ender?
Not to find the stronghold; the coordinates do that. You still need them to activate the portal: the frame has 12 slots, and each starts with only a small chance of holding an eye.
Does the stronghold finder work on Bedrock?
Yes. Choose Bedrock and your version, and the map uses Bedrock's rules, including the strongholds tied to villages. Java and Bedrock put strongholds in different places for the same seed, so match the edition to your world.
