Ore & Diamond Finder for Minecraft Java

Free ore and diamond finder for Minecraft Java: enter your seed and get exact x/y/z dig targets for diamonds and six other ores. No mods, no X-ray.

Open the map All seed tools

Enter your Java seed and get the nearest diamond, iron, gold, redstone, lapis, copper or coal candidates as exact x/y/z coordinates, worked out from the seed rather than from X-ray.

How to use it

  1. Open the Ore & Diamond Finder with the button above; diamond is already selected.
  2. Enter your seed and choose Java Edition and the version your world runs.
  3. Set the starting point to where you are (your F3 coordinates) so the nearest candidates are ones you can reach.
  4. Pick an ore and run the search. Candidates come back nearest first, each with its own x, y and z.
  5. Dig to a candidate, or /tp there in creative, and mine around it if a cave has taken part of the vein.

Good to know

Minecraft decides where ore goes with fixed rules for each ore: how many veins a chunk tries, at which heights, and how big they are. The finder runs those rules for your seed, which is why it can name a spot you have never loaded. Each result is a candidate rather than a guarantee, because the game also checks what is already at that spot when it places the ore.

Height matters more than most players think. Diamonds get more common the deeper you go and are most common just above the bedrock layer, around Y -59. Every diamond candidate comes with its own Y, so you dig to one point instead of strip-mining a whole layer.

Nothing is installed and nothing in your game changes: no mods, no resource pack, no client tweaks. The finder only reads the seed.

Questions

What's the best Y level for diamonds?

Diamonds get more common the deeper you go, peaking around Y -59, just above the bedrock layer. The finder goes one step further: each diamond candidate has its own exact Y, so you dig to one x/y/z instead of mining a whole layer.

Is the ore finder the same as X-ray?

No. X-ray changes your game so you can see through blocks. The ore finder changes nothing: it reads your seed and predicts where the game places ore, and you still mine it the normal way.

Why did I dig to a candidate and find nothing?

A cave or aquifer running through that spot can remove part of a vein or all of it. Check the blocks around the point, then try the next candidate. The finder lists several nearby, so one miss costs little.

Does the ore finder work on Bedrock Edition?

No, it is Java only. Bedrock uses different ore placement and the finder does not model it. You can still load a Bedrock seed on the map for its biomes and structures.
